What is SCRIP?           

The term “SCRIP” is simply defined as any substitute for legal tender.  In our case, it’s gift cards! 

By participating in the St. Mark SCRIP Program, you raise money by using gift cards instead of cash or credit to pay for everyday purchases like groceries, gas, dining out, that morning coffee addiction, and even your family’s summer vacation.

It’s easy—and it works. By using gift cards to pay for every day (and not-so-everyday) expenses, each family can earn hundreds of dollars per year for our school. No selling. No extra time. No extra money.

 

How does it work?

We work with a company called RaiseRight (formerly known as ShopwithScrip) to run our program.  RaiseRight is a one-stop shop for all your gift card needs. 

For more than 25 years, RaiseRight has been empowering individuals and families to use gift cards to turn their everyday spending into funding for their organization.  Unlike paying with cash or credit cards, every time participants purchase or reload their favorite brand gift cards from RaiseRight, they earn real money that goes directly toward their designated organization. It’s that simple.  

 

How do I get started?

  1. 1. Set up an account using our school’s Enrollment Code  3349FA7A547L This will ensure your purchases are tied to our school.
    • Visit RaiseRight.com to set up your online account. OR
    • Download the RaiseRight mobile app and set up an account using the same enrollment code to shop with the convenience of your cell phone. 
  1. 2. Purchase gift cards for your everyday needs, as well as gift giving.
You pay the regular face value of the card, nothing extra. The merchant provides us with a rebate percentage, which varies from 1.5% to 20%, that comes directly as profit to the school.
    • You can purchase physical or electronic gift cards, some of which are reloadable.

 

  • 3. You can also purchase physical cards directly through the school.
     We carry about 30 popular brands in stock at the school. Simply complete an order form and drop it off at the school office or send it in with your student.  Orders are filled on Mondays and Thursdays and can either be available for pick up at the office or sent home with your student. You can send in your payment with your order, or pay at pick-up.  Cash or check is preferred, but credit cards are accepted as well.

 

You can also email us with your order at [email protected]. Just let us know what you want and we’ll have it ready to be picked up at the school office with your payment.
 
We can also place special orders for brands we don’t usually carry. Due to shipping charges, we can only do this about twice a month as part of a bulk order.
 
4. We also sell gift cards after Mass on Sundays!
Come to coffee and donuts in the school cafeteria after the 8:30 or 10:30 mass and purchase your SCRIP for the week!
 
  • 5. Share the joy!
Invite friends and family to join the program by using the invite link on the RaiseRight website and help us earn even more for our school! Tell us who you invite, and we can link their purchases to your account.

 

What are the goals of the SCRIP Program?

1. The SCRIP program has a goal of raising $10,000 per year, which is directed to the school’s operating budget.
2. As part of their Tuition Agreement, each school family commits to earning at least $100 in profit through SCRIP Purchases. Is this goal easily met?  YES!  You can more than meet your goal just by purchasing $100 in grocery gift cards every week.  However, you can really make an even bigger impact by doing a little planning ahead.  Here’s an example:

 

  • Let’s say in a month, you know you’ll make the following purchases for your family:

Now times that by 10 months in the school year: $28.20*10 = $282.80.  You’ve not only met your goal, you’ve almost tripled it! 

 

Now if every family did this: $282.80*120 = $33,864  dollars for our school!!! As you can see, the profits can really add up, and all through everyday spending! 
 

 3. How can you crush your goal even further?

     1. Buy gift cards as gifts! Remember to use SCRIP for birthdays, holidays, and teacher appreciation gifts!

     2. Invite friends and family to join! You can send them an invite on the website or through the mobile app and their purchases can be tied to your account to help you meet your commitment as well as earn more for the school!

     3. Shop Bonuses

Check the RaiseRight website every week for Bonus Buys. Participating vendors will offer bigger rebates for a certain time.
 4. Not sounding like this is for you? No problem, there is also a buy-out option!  Simply make out a check for $100 to Saint Mark SCRIP to fulfill your commitment in one easy step.  Checks can be turned in to the school office at any time in the school year.
