  Welcome to Ms. Ledesma's Second Grade Class! 
  
  Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am so excited to be your student's second grade teacher!! 
  
  

  Every month, the students are given a virtues home project. This month's virtue is fortitude. Fortitude means being brave. Please practice the virtue of fortitude with your students throughout the month of January. Choose one or a couple activities to do as a family. Then, have your students write what they learned and want to share in the community.

   

  This month's virtue project is Wednesday, January 29.

  - What is something that feels scary to you (sliding down a big slide, making a new friend, speaking in front of the class)? How can you try to be brave when you are afraid this month? 
  - If someone is bothering you, practice being brave like St. Bernadette. Practice standing up for yourself by telling them "please stop" in a way that is polite, but strong. 
  - Is there someone in your class who is hurt by others? Describe what happens. How can you be strong enough to help? Talk to your parents about how you can help this month.
  - Practice standing up for what is right. If you notice someone breaking the rules at school or at home, kindly remind them to follow the rules and do what is right.
  
  This month's poem is Fortitude by Deborah Ann Belka. Please practice reciting the poem with your students throughout this month.
